Henri Laborit: L'inhibition de l'action

Suite à la disparition d’Alain Resnais, voici un extrait de son film “Mon Oncle d’Amérique”, dans lequel Henri Laborit décrit les mécanismes de l’inhibition de l’action.

Anthony Rousseau est un artiste plasticien qui réalise depuis quelques années des créations audiovisuelles, qui sont diffusées dans de nombreuses manifestations artistiques et culturelles au niveau local et international ainsi qu’à la télévision.
L’ensemble de ses travaux se concrétise par des recherches et expérimentations autour de l’image fixe, l’image mouvement et la matière sonore. Ils prennent la forme de vidéo, photographie, bande sonore, performance et installation interactive.
Ses processus de créations sont liés pour la plupart aux usages des nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication qui favorisent la transversalité des supports de création et de diffusion, mais aussi l’hybridation et les échanges entre média. Ainsi les différentes expérimentations et recherches qu’il mène se concrétisent par des créations qui sont autant d’étapes d’un travail en cours, préambule à une création rhizomatique

Quelques nouvelles de l'éclat


Bonjour,
Plusieurs parutions ces mois de février-mars, de Heinrich Heine à John Coltrane, avec toujours ce sens de la disparate qui, à force, va devenir un étendard.
 
Dès le 6 mars vous trouverez en librairie le livre de Raphaël Imbert, dont les radios et la presse, empressées, ont déjà commencé à rendre compte...
Jazz supreme. Initiés, mystiques prophètes, ou "De la spiritualité dans le jazz"! S'il vous fallait un guide pour la grande exposition Great Black Music qui s'ouvre à la Villette, le livre de Raphaël Imbert s'impose.

Gerard Malanga receives first poet of distinction award from Edna St. Vincent Millay Society

For forty minutes last night, as sirens slashed the frigid silence outside and painted the inside of an art gallery emergency red, the poet Gerard Malanga read poems about eminent people he has known or studied—among them Gabriel d’Annunzio, Valerie Eliot, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Gore Vidal.

Malanga, as famous for his photography as his poetry, never gets in the way of a poem. His readings are singular acts of faith in the work. The actor Matthew McConaughey recently said in a similar vein that getting out of the way of a script is crucial to him.

All recent, unpublished and never-before-read, the poems Malanga read at McDaris Fine Art Gallery in Hudson, New York, are keenly observed encounters with people, their natures and their intellects.

Malanga’s is a fond eye. Often he is more interested in the companions of the famous than the famous. He is electrically aware of the circumstances and environs in which he encounters them.

In one poem the novelist Saul Bellow wants to play softball and tries to rouse the sleepy young Malanga. The poem, like many others, suggests Malanga's filmmaker's eye. He remembers not only what people said, what they look like, but how they moved. He remembers encountering, for example, the photographer Diane Arbus in the library of The New York Times, and in a few lines he gives us an Arbus nobody else has described quite so insightfully. Describing William Burroughs, we get the writer's cranky whisper. It would have come across in the words even if Malanga hadn't mimicked the sound.

Here are some of the other people we so memorably encountered last night: Chris Marker, Emile de Antonio, Faith Frankenstein, Dorothea Lange, Benedetta Barzini, a close friend of the poet, Jasper Johns, Cornelius Gurlitt, René Gresham, and Jim Jacobs.

More than most poets, Malanga has spent a lifetime among fellow poets, artists, filmmakers and photographers, and in his poems we encounter them glowing with Malanga's love for them. That is a rare achievement in any art form, redolent, say, of Johannes Vermeer's unmistakable feelings for The Girl With the Pearl Earring.

It is a tribute to Malanga's personal style as well as his work that the audience's response to his poems often consists of the silence of awe and the sort of murmuring that denotes profound impact. Rather than break his spell, the audience reserves its sustained applause for the end of his readings. People who frequent poetry readings will recognize this as a rare salute.

"Dad 3," a poem about vacationing with his father in the Shawangunk Mountains of New York, gives us an early and excruciatingly intimate glimpse of the astute observer Malanga would always be. But it gives us something else, something that bends a brilliant spotlight back on his earlier work. At some point he leaves his father and returns to a barn where he speaks to the animals in a language he has now forgotten. But Malanga has never fully forgotten that language, and it both informs and haunts his poems.

The Millay Colony for the Arts and the Edna St. Vincent Millay Society, which sponsored last night’s reading, could not have chosen a more appropriate poet to receive its first Steepletop Poet of Distinction Award. (Greg Vogler, a Millay trustee, is shown here making the award).  Malanga shares with Millay a clear voice, an undeterred eye, and, perhaps most of all, a gift for setting up a vibration that rewires the circuitry of a place and a time.

Steepletop is the name Millay and her husband Charles Frederick Ellis, an artist and actor, gave their home in Austerlitz, New York, near Chatham. But what makes the award even more relevant is that Millay Colony and the Edna St. Vincent Millay Society share with Malanga a profound interest in other creative people. The gift Millay Colony presented Malanga last night is as appropriate as the award, a first edition of Millay’s What Quarry, Huntsman, 1933. Malanga is a book dealer and rare book collector.

I was introduced to the machine several years ago by a Buddhist poet and have been a member of this group for a fair number of years. During my graduate study, I attempted to make a correlation between mindfulness meditation and the dreammachine.
 
Anyways, I wanted to present this as a lecture to a local art community and decided to create a new user interface for the JavaScript application. Please feel free to share your thoughts on my facelift and pass on app.

Synchronicities: significant coincidences of a physical phenomenon with a psychic phenomenon, but you cannot explain the link of causality between both. Carl Gustav Jung and William Burroughs conducted researches about it, James Redfield wrote a novel, “The Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure” .
Such synchronicities escape our understanding because we tend to see reality with opposed criteria of “objective”/ ”subjective”, as if what we live inwardly would be “subjective”, i e “imaginary”, in opposition of the “objective facts” we can state, which would be only real. We also tend to believe that we are separate from our surrounding, and that there is no link between what is going on inside us and outside us.
Here the rationalists come and  say: “This coincidence is due to random”. But what does “random” means exactly? Once you have said that, where does this leads to ? How random is random? This “explanation” does not explain anything at all, and is blocking further interrogations and research on nature of reality.
Now sometimes, such synchronicities happen, which confront us to a level of reality which does not fit with this rationalist vision : there is a synchronicity between what we live inwardly and the happening of actual events without interference of our will, on which we have no control, but which have a signification just for us. So what’s going on here? We do not know, let’s see. Let’s put the rationalist  vision of reality aside for a moment and let’s apply a scientific step, starting by the observation of the facts, including the events of our inner life, what they represent for us, etc., without inferring anything from them at this step and progress starting from there.
We can base our observation on several synchronicities and see where they lead to: they often deal with issues to take in account.
Putting aside the rationalist vision of reality (XVII th century), we nevertheless have a new frame of reference through modern physics (XX th century).  We are aware of the notion of dimensions, of multi-dimensional reality, and of levels of reality.
Another domain where such synchronicities appear is in dreams: for instance I began to dream that I was losing my wallet, once, twice, thrice, and was wondering the meaning of it. One Saturday evening in a supermarket, the shop was about to close, I was the last client and in a hurry. I forgot the wallet on the cash register. On Monday morning I went to the shop and got it back. End of the dreams about losing the wallet. So what is going on here? Were those dreams meaningful to me? Yes. Since I pay more attention to my wallet, and I take in account elements of recurrent dreams.
I have got to the conclusion that we can propose the hypothesis of a multi-dimensional reality, with different levels of reality, linked between each other, which may work according different laws . For instance the laws of physics are not valid in dreams. If we try to explain a non–physical level of reality with physical laws, as we tend to do with synchronicities, then it does not fit, and we are confronted to an “impossible situation”. It may be very disturbing! Some people infer from this that they are becoming crazy. But this option also is a dead end and forbids to go further.
Now the interesting aspect here is that we can make our own research. Here general semantics has been very helpful to me when facing such phenomenons: the structural differential allows to consider them through a scientific step, and avoid the traps of some of the past contradictions and dead ends.

My research on synchronicities started with the ones which happened to me related to my meetings with William Burroughs and Brion Gysin: See at the article “The Time of the Naguals” , p. 15 to 31. This was too much ! Incomprehensible when I lived them. I had the impression to live a scenario of “Twighlight Zone” ! General semantics was very helpful here, because the observation of what was happening demonstrated that it was not something “imaginary”, nor “delirious”, but the implications required to draw a new conception of reality: synchronicities confront us to the “unknown” , and this may seem rather scary at first. I had to put up a new map, starting upon what was going on exactly, the links between inner events and the ones happening in physical world, etc., and considering it through a scientific step, through a quantic vision of the world. Then, what was not comprehensible to me before on the old basis became comprehensible in terms of physics. On this basis I could put up new hypothesis, and integrate those synchronicities as part of reality of human life, as something “normal”, compared to when it first appeared to me when I lived them: something incredible and not “normal” at all. It’s a part of the human program we do not use in our civilization, because we do not know about it and have no map to apprehend it correctly; but it’s just like a program on our computer we do not use, but which we can virtually use if the occasion occurs.
Our maps of reality do not represent the actual territory. Though it seems that the exploration of our territory can only be realized by us: only I can know the link between inner events and a physical event, its meaning can only appear to me. This leads to the exploration of our inner space. Again general semantics is a real help, because it allows not progress safely, step by step, without getting lost in mental dead ends. Investigate on the situation as if we were a police inspector investigating on an affair and gathering the elements to understand it, and taking it like a game as well.
